What shapes the award.
- Weekly range
- $113 to $649. Wage requirements still apply.
- Duration
- Up to 26 weeks under this program. The modeled benefit balance is $16,874.
- Dependents
- The state has a dependents rule. Qualifying relationships and limits apply; use the dependents input to model it.
- Base period
- First four of the last five completed calendar quarters. An alternate or extended period may be available under the state’s conditions. Understand the quarters.
- Alternate-period detail
- The agency uses the latest four completed quarters if the standard period fails monetary qualification. A prior-year overlap can also change the selected period.
- Benefit balance and dependents
- The regular benefit balance excludes the dependency allowance. Eligible allowances are paid separately for weeks with a payable benefit; they do not shorten the duration shown.
- Covered-wage requirements
- Covered wages must total at least $7,494.72, with at least $2,498.24 in each of two different quarters. These thresholds are updated annually in June.
- Who counts as a dependent
- The allowance is $25 per qualifying dependent child, capped at 75% of the regular weekly rate. Statutory support, age, student, disability, adoption or support-order conditions apply. Only one person can claim a child for a week. Enter only agency-approved dependents.
- Partial-week conditions
- Work must be below full-time, and gross wages strictly below the regular weekly rate plus $128. Ignore the first $128, then deduct excess wages dollar for dollar from the regular rate before adding an eligible child allowance. Floor the final payment.
- Duration conditions
- The regular balance is the lesser of 26 weekly rates or one-third covered base-period wages rounded to the nearest dollar. Dependent supplements sit outside that regular balance. A smaller final payment can exhaust it; training and extensions have separate conditions.
- Work registration
- Register actively with Maine JobLink and follow reemployment appointments unless the department grants a waiver.
Before you count on it.
- Covered wages and employment are required.
- This checks only the modeled monetary rules. The agency also checks your employment history and other eligibility conditions.
- Separation, availability, work search and certification can affect payment.
- Tax withholding, offsets and agency adjustments can change the amount received.

Keeping the claim eligible.
Complete at least one qualifying work-search activity each claimed week and keep its details. A definite-recall waiver covers the final six weeks before the confirmed return date; it is not an automatic waiver for the first six weeks of a longer layoff.
Read the official guidanceTaxes and the amount received.
Benefits are federally and Maine taxable. Optional withholding is available, including 5% Maine withholding; the federal election follows the prescribed federal amount. Get Form 1099-G from the agency. Estimates are before withholding.

Questions about Maine benefits.
How much unemployment will I get if I make $2,150 a week?
The modeled payment in Maine is about $649 per week, before tax withholding. Assumes the same gross weekly pay throughout four 13-week quarters. The agency checks eligibility and can apply additional adjustments.
How long can the benefit last in Maine?
This calculation allows up to 26 payable weeks under the modeled regular program. This count uses the regular weekly rate; the final payment may be smaller. Wage credits, the benefit-year balance, certification and continuing eligibility can shorten payment. A maximum duration is not a guarantee.
Is there a waiting period before the first payment?
Serve one otherwise eligible unpaid waiting week and keep filing. The agency determines when it has been served.
Why can my actual payment be different?
Uneven covered wages, the claim or injury date, part-time earnings, dependents, taxes, offsets and eligibility can change a result. Use actual wage details in the calculator and compare the assumptions with your agency determination.
