Use actual wages & more details

Leave all quarters blank for steady pay. To use actual wages, fill all four; use 0 for an unpaid quarter.

Enter the four agency-selected covered quarters in chronological order. Claims start on the Sunday of the filing week, so an early-quarter filing date can still belong to the previous quarter. The claimant guide gives April 1, 2025-March 31, 2026 for claims effective July 5-October 3, 2026. The last two entered quarters are used for the eight-rate test.

Up to 16 payable weeks

Based on your regular weekly rate; the final payment may be smaller.

The sixteen-week ordinary classification stays fixed for the benefit year. Partial payments do not promise additional payable weeks; the agency applies remaining credits and its benefit-week rules. Approved training and extended benefits require separate decisions.

Weekly limit

Waiting period

Assumes the same gross weekly pay throughout four 13-week quarters.

For new ordinary claims effective July 5-December 31, 2026. The published $39-$746 weekly range is annual; the shorter December 31 review deadline reflects the separate January duration update. An existing claim keeps its agency-established rate and duration classification.

What shapes the award.

Weekly range
$39 to $746. Wage requirements still apply.
Duration
Up to 16 weeks under this program. The modeled benefit balance is $11,936.
Dependents
No dependents allowance in this modeled regular benefit.
Base period
First four of the last five completed calendar quarters before the Sunday claim start. No alternate period is modeled here. Understand the quarters.
Alternate-period detail
There is no general latest-four-quarter alternative in this model. A conditional extended period before a qualifying work injury may substitute earlier quarters; ask OUI to select those wages.
Covered-wage requirements
The highest quarter must reach $1,500, the other three quarters together must reach $1,500, the total must reach 1.5 times the highest quarter, and chronological quarters 3 and 4 together must reach eight weekly rates. The August 2026 agency calculator and July 2026 employer guide confirm these current thresholds.
Partial-week conditions
Work must be less than full-time and weekly gross earnings strictly below 1.25 times the weekly rate. Round 80% of those gross earnings to the nearest whole dollar before subtracting it from the weekly rate. Report earnings for the week worked, before deductions. Pensions, remuneration in lieu of notice and shared-work claims have separate rules.
Duration conditions
Current ordinary claims have a sixteen-week ceiling, confirmed in both July 2026 agency guides. The balance is the lesser of sixteen weekly rates or one-third covered wages, subject to the statutory twelve-rate minimum and nearest-dollar balance rule. The classification remains fixed during the benefit year; approved-training extensions are excluded.
Work registration
Register and complete your Citizen Connect account at citizenconnect.ky.gov/login. Upload proof of registration within ten days of filing. If you live outside Kentucky, register with your resident state employment service and upload the required proof within ten days. Follow OUI appointments and identity-verification instructions.
Repeat benefit years
A successive benefit year requires covered work after the prior benefit year began, with earned wages of at least five times the weekly rate established for that prior benefit year. This is the previous rate, not the new claim rate. A new monetary determination and other eligibility conditions still apply. The ordinary benefit year is 52 weeks and can be 53 to avoid overlapping a base-period quarter.

Before you count on it.

  • Covered wages and employment are required.
  • This checks only the modeled monetary rules. The agency also checks your employment history and other eligibility conditions.
  • Separation, availability, work search and certification can affect payment.
  • Tax withholding, offsets and agency adjustments can change the amount received.

This is a wage calculation and an informational screen. Your agency or insurer decides your claim.

Keeping the claim eligible.

Ordinarily complete five verifiable activities each claimed week, including at least three formal applications or interviews. Keep records for one year after the claim expires. A recall waiver ordinarily requires verified return within sixteen weeks; a longer period up to one year requires the secretary to confirm the statutory conditions in writing. Union-hall and approved-training waivers also require agency acceptance.

Taxes and the amount received.

Unemployment benefits can be federally and Kentucky taxable. Optional withholding is 10% federal and 3.5% Kentucky; the current guide permits one withholding change per benefit year. The estimate is before withholding and other offsets. Obtain Form 1099-G from the agency account.

From applying to getting paid.

Waiting periods and processing time are different things.

  1. Apply with the agency

Use the official portal. Keep required records and confirm the claim or injury date.

  2. 7-day modeled wait

One otherwise eligible waiting week is initially unpaid; request it so it can count. Current KRS 341.350 permits payment of that compensable waiting week when the remaining claim balance is no more than its payable amount. This estimator does not determine whether the exhaustion condition has been met.

  3. Certify and confirm payment

Request benefits every two weeks, starting thirteen days after the actual filing day. Claim weeks run Sunday-Saturday; subsequent requests are available Sunday-Friday. The current online schedule is Sunday 10 a.m.-9 p.m. and weekdays 7 a.m.-7 p.m., Eastern time. Continue timely requests while an eligibility issue or appeal is pending and follow your account instructions.

Questions about Kentucky benefits.

How much unemployment will I get if I make $2,307.69 a week?

The modeled payment in Kentucky is about $746 per week, before tax withholding. Assumes the same gross weekly pay throughout four 13-week quarters. The agency checks eligibility and can apply additional adjustments.

How long can the benefit last in Kentucky?

This calculation allows up to 16 payable weeks under the modeled regular program. This count uses the regular weekly rate; the final payment may be smaller. Wage credits, the benefit-year balance, certification and continuing eligibility can shorten payment. A maximum duration is not a guarantee.

Is there a waiting period before the first payment?

One otherwise eligible waiting week is initially unpaid; request it so it can count. Current KRS 341.350 permits payment of that compensable waiting week when the remaining claim balance is no more than its payable amount. This estimator does not determine whether the exhaustion condition has been met.

Why can my actual payment be different?

Uneven covered wages, the claim or injury date, part-time earnings, dependents, taxes, offsets and eligibility can change a result. Use actual wage details in the calculator and compare the assumptions with your agency determination.
