Use actual wages & more details

Leave all quarters blank for steady pay. To use actual wages, fill all four; use 0 for an unpaid quarter.

Enter all four covered-wage quarters selected by DLIR, including zeros. The standard period is the first four of the last five completed quarters before the benefit year begins on Sunday. That Sunday controls near a quarter boundary. Qualification requires wages in two quarters and total wages of at least 26 weekly rates.

Hawaii weekly estimate

$868estimated per week

Up to 26 payable weeks

Based on your regular weekly rate; the final payment may be smaller.

The ordinary balance is 26 weekly rates. Smaller partial payments may spread that balance across more eligible calendar weeks within the agency-determined benefit year; they do not extend that year.

Weekly limit
$868
Waiting period
7 days

Assumes the same gross weekly pay throughout four 13-week quarters.

The published 2026 maximum applies to benefit years beginning in 2026. Because a claim starts on Sunday, this estimator infers January 4 as the first 2026 start. December 31, 2026 is a conservative review deadline; the 2027 maximum is not assumed. Earlier claims retain their own determination.

What shapes the award.

Weekly range
$5 to $868. Wage requirements still apply.
Duration
Up to 26 weeks under this program. The modeled benefit balance is $22,568.
Dependents
No dependents allowance in this modeled regular benefit.
Base period
First four of the last five completed calendar quarters. An alternate or extended period may be available under the state’s conditions. Understand the quarters.
Alternate-period detail
If standard-period wages are insufficient, the agency uses the last four completed calendar quarters before the benefit year begins. Wages used to establish a benefit year cannot be reused for another claim. Confirm the selected quarters on the monetary determination.
Reporting work
Report gross wages for Sunday-Saturday when the work was done, before payday. Include reportable holiday, vacation and other income as directed; separate offsets may apply. Do not subtract taxes here.
Partial-week conditions
Gross weekly wages must be strictly below the established weekly rate, and work must be less than full time. The statutory default is 40 hours unless trade practice, custom or agreement sets another full-time week. Ignore the first $150 of wages, deduct the rest dollar for dollar and round the remaining payment up to a whole dollar. The earnings cutoff still applies when the rate is below $150.
Duration conditions
Regular benefits provide a balance of 26 times the weekly rate. The benefit year normally lasts 52 weeks; an overlapping base-year quarter can require 53 weeks under the statute. Ongoing eligibility is required, and special extensions are not included.
Work registration
Hawaii residents are automatically registered with HireNet Hawaii. Interstate claimants must maintain local employment-service registration. Qualifying unions submit UC-226 within seven days. Follow agency notices.
Repeat benefit years
After the prior benefit year began, covered work must pay at least five times the new weekly rate. The ordinary wage tests still apply, and previously used wages cannot be reused. The estimator does not check intervening work.

Before you count on it.

  • Covered wages and employment are required.
  • This checks only the modeled monetary rules. The agency also checks your employment history and other eligibility conditions.
  • Separation, availability, work search and certification can affect payment.
  • Tax withholding, offsets and agency adjustments can change the amount received.

Keeping the claim eligible.

When required, complete three work-search activities each week and keep a verifiable record, including in the claimant portal. Attend assigned reemployment services. Partial-work, union or job-attachment exceptions need agency confirmation.

Benefits are generally taxable. Optional withholding is 10% federal and 5% Hawaii. Form 1099-G reports annual payments. This estimate is before withholding and other offsets.

From applying to getting paid.

Waiting periods and processing time are different things.

  1. Apply with the agency

Use the official portal. Keep required records and confirm the claim or injury date.

  2. 7-day modeled wait

One eligible unpaid waiting week is required. File its certification and meet the weekly conditions even though it is unpaid.

  3. Certify and confirm payment

Use huiclaims.hawaii.gov. File weekly or biweekly as assigned, within seven days after the last Saturday; certify each week separately. Continue during an appeal. Attached employers submit UC-348 within five working days and weekly low-earnings reports.

Questions about Hawaii benefits.

How much unemployment will I get if I make $2,300 a week?

The modeled payment in Hawaii is about $868 per week, before tax withholding. Assumes the same gross weekly pay throughout four 13-week quarters. The agency checks eligibility and can apply additional adjustments.

How long can the benefit last in Hawaii?

This calculation allows up to 26 payable weeks under the modeled regular program. This count uses the regular weekly rate; the final payment may be smaller. Wage credits, the benefit-year balance, certification and continuing eligibility can shorten payment. A maximum duration is not a guarantee.

Is there a waiting period before the first payment?

One eligible unpaid waiting week is required. File its certification and meet the weekly conditions even though it is unpaid.

Why can my actual payment be different?

Uneven covered wages, the claim or injury date, part-time earnings, dependents, taxes, offsets and eligibility can change a result. Use actual wage details in the calculator and compare the assumptions with your agency determination.

Where do I apply or check my claim?
