Delaware weekly estimate
$450estimated per week
Up to 26 payable weeks
Based on your regular weekly rate; the final payment may be smaller.
The ordinary balance is the lesser of 26 weekly rates and half of actual covered base-period wages, rounded down to a whole dollar. A smaller final payment can exhaust the balance. Partial payments may spread it across more eligible calendar weeks before the benefit year ends.
- Weekly limit
- $450
- Waiting period
- 0 days
Assumes the same gross weekly pay throughout four 13-week quarters.
The current $20 minimum and $450 maximum apply to new benefit years from April 2, 2023. This draft uses a conservative January 1-December 31, 2026 review window; it does not assert that these fixed limits change automatically in January. Older benefit years and future changes require their own agency determination.
Rule under review. Confirm the amount with the official agency.
Low-wage duration can fall below the federal table’s 24-26-week range under the current statutory minimum wage and balance provisions. Employer-attached Form UC-114 weeks can also use an agency-assigned payroll period and require separate review. Confirm the monetary award and reporting method with the division.

What shapes the award.
- Weekly range
- $20 to $450. Wage requirements still apply.
- Duration
- Up to 26 weeks under this program. The modeled benefit balance is $11,700.
- Dependents
- No dependents allowance in this modeled regular benefit.
- Base period
- First four of the last five completed calendar quarters before the first day of the benefit year. An alternate or extended period may be available under the state’s conditions. Understand the quarters.
- Alternate-period detail
- Use the four most recent completed quarters when the standard period has insufficient wages. Follow the division’s Determination of Monetary Eligibility; wages cannot be reused without meeting the intervening-work rules.
- Reporting work
- Use gross earned wages for the agency’s claim week, before payday. TeleBenefits instructs you to round each employer’s wages up to the next dollar: enter the sum of the amounts you report after those per-employer steps. A combined exact-wage figure cannot reproduce separate-employer rounding. Ordinary weeks run Sunday-Saturday; Form UC-114 attached-employer claims can use a different payroll period. Report other income as the division directs.
- Covered-wage requirements
- Actual covered wages must reach at least $720 and 36 times the rounded, capped weekly rate. One paid quarter can satisfy the ordinary wage test; a second paid quarter is not required. The protected $20 rate does not guarantee eligibility. Statutory lower-rate adjustment and nonmonetary decisions remain for the agency.
- Partial-week conditions
- For an ordinary part-total week, work must be less than full time and reported wages must be strictly below the regular rate plus the greater of $10 or half that rate. Disregard that allowance, deduct excess wages dollar for dollar, then round the remaining payment down. Employer-attached partial work and a return-to-full-time transition can require separate agency treatment; no universal hourly threshold is assumed.
- Duration conditions
- Use the lesser of 26 times the regular weekly rate and 50% of all covered base-period wages, rounded down to a whole dollar. The payable-week count includes a possible smaller final payment. A maximum is not guaranteed, and the federal table’s 24-26-week range remains under review for low-wage histories.
- Work registration
- Register in Delaware JobLink within three business days of filing, create or upload a resume and update it at least every 90 days. Keep registration active while collecting. Interstate claimants follow home-state registration/search rules and provide proof to Delaware within ten days. Follow the division’s notices about any verified exemption.
- Repeat benefit years
- For a subsequent benefit year after receiving benefits, new covered employment since the preceding year began must earn at least ten times the new weekly rate. The ordinary base-period wage tests still apply. Confirm previously used or overlapping wages with the division; this estimate does not check intervening employment.
Before you count on it.
- Covered wages and employment are required.
- This checks only the modeled monetary rules. The agency also checks your employment history and other eligibility conditions.
- Separation, availability, work search and certification can affect payment.
- Tax withholding, offsets and agency adjustments can change the amount received.

Keeping the claim eligible.
Unless the division confirms an exemption, complete at least one new, unique work-search contact each claimed week. Keep a verifiable log with the date, employer/contact information, type of work, application or resume and result. Report the activity in weekly certification, supply records when requested and attend assigned reemployment services. Repeating the same job contact alone is not a new search.
Read the official guidanceTaxes and the amount received.
Benefits are generally subject to federal and Delaware income tax. Optional federal withholding is 10% of the payment after earnings and required offsets. State tax is not withheld from UI payments. Changing withholding status is permitted no more than once per benefit year. Keep Form 1099-G and follow revenue-agency instructions.

Waiting periods and processing time are different things.
- Apply with the agency
Use the official portal. Keep required records and confirm the claim or injury date.
- 0-day modeled wait
The one-week waiting requirement sunset for benefit years beginning January 1, 2017 or later. Ordinary current benefits have no unpaid waiting week. Keep requesting each eligible week; adjudication, verification and processing can still delay payment.
- Certify and confirm payment
Request each eligible week through WebBenefits or TeleBenefits, including while a claim or appeal is pending. Wait until the claim week has ended, report gross earned wages and work-search information, and follow the filing deadline shown by the system. TeleBenefits is available around the clock at 302-761-6576 or 800-794-3032 outside New Castle County. VIVR is available via 302-761-8446. Processing text is not a promised deposit date.

Questions about Delaware benefits.
How much unemployment will I get if I make $2,500 a week?
The modeled payment in Delaware is about $450 per week, before tax withholding. Assumes the same gross weekly pay throughout four 13-week quarters. The agency checks eligibility and can apply additional adjustments.
How long can the benefit last in Delaware?
This calculation allows up to 26 payable weeks under the modeled regular program. This count uses the regular weekly rate; the final payment may be smaller. Wage credits, the benefit-year balance, certification and continuing eligibility can shorten payment. A maximum duration is not a guarantee.
Is there a waiting period before the first payment?
The one-week waiting requirement sunset for benefit years beginning January 1, 2017 or later. Ordinary current benefits have no unpaid waiting week. Keep requesting each eligible week; adjudication, verification and processing can still delay payment.
Why can my actual payment be different?
Uneven covered wages, the claim or injury date, part-time earnings, dependents, taxes, offsets and eligibility can change a result. Use actual wage details in the calculator and compare the assumptions with your agency determination.
